Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital at The Medical Center is a
continuing care/long term acute care hospital. Commonwealth Regional
Specialty Hospital provides continuity of care for patients with chronic
disease or complex medical conditions which require long term stays of 18-35
days in an acute care environment. It is not a nursing home or skilled
nursing transitional unit.
Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital acts as a
“hospital-within-a-hospital,” leasing space from The Medical Center. It
operates as a separate and distinct entity with its own board of directors,
medical staff and employees.
